NEWS AND NOTES, April 21, 2019

At St. Paul, Preble

EASTER SUNDAY. Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! The tomb is open. The grave clothes lie neatly folded. The women are heralded with the Good News: he is not here, he has risen, just as he said. On this most holy feast of our Lord’s resurrection, we rejoice once more in our Lord’s victory over sin and death. He who was crucified for our trespasses was raised for our justification. The Father vindicates his Son from the dead. All who believe in Christ will likewise rise to eternal life on the Last Day, when the mortal shall put on immortality, when shall come to pass the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.” The sting of death is sin, the power of sin is the Law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanks to all who purchased flowers, donated time and goods for the Easter breakfast, adorned our services with singing and music. For our organist and choir, for our seminarians, deacons, altar guild, and all who serve this Easter—your pastors and congregation thank you!

CONFIRMATION. This year, we are pleased to rejoice with five students who, by the grace of God, will be confirmed in the Christian faith in two weeks: Sydney Keane, Leyna Macke, Nevaeh Martinez, Skyler Steiner, and Haleigh Wesley.
