NEWS AND NOTES, December 1st, 2019
At St. Paul, Preble
The First Sunday in Advent prepares our hearts in hope to receive Christ, who once came as our humble King, lowly and mounted on a donkey, to save us by his death. We look for his future Advent in glory when he comes to deliver us from the wrath to come and usher us into his everlasting kingdom. Today we rejoice to receive God’s Word in sermon and Bible Class from Pr. Brege even as we keep pastor Brege’s work and that of the Indiana District in our prayers.
Bids for Music Director, Custodian & Groundskeeper for next year are due this week. Please submit these in the Church Office.
Elders, Council, and Voters meet Dec. 2nd and 3rd. We are still in need of one eligible Voter to serve on the School Board for the coming term. Please prayerfully consider serving your congregation in this capacity and let Pr. Yeager know of your intentions as soon as possible.
Advent Midweek Services will be 7pm Wednesdays throughout the season of Advent, Dec. 4, 11, and 18. We will use the first three petitions of the Lord’s Prayer, together with Martin Luther’s Oratio, Meditatio, Tentatio as our theme. The service on Christmas Eve is 7pm, and the Divine Service on Christmas Day is 9am. Rejoice in the coming and birth of our Lord Jesus, born for us and our salvation.
