NEWS AND NOTES, March 10, 2019
At St. Paul, Preble
BY HOLY BAPTISM Evelyn Grace Shaffer receives the new birth by
water and the Spirit is born again a child of the heavenly Father at today’s 10:15 service. Her parents are Aly Todd and C.J. Shaffer. Her sponsors are Jacob and Meg Todd. We rejoice on this her Baptism Day.
Liturgy Note 1: The 10:15 Service will begin with the Rite of Holy Baptism on P. 268 and will continue with the Readings (Creed omitted).
Liturgy Note 2: In Lent, the Gloria in Excelsis and Alleluia are omitted.
Liturgy Note 3: Stanza 1 of the Hymn “Lamb of God, Pure and Holy,” LSB 434, will replace the Agnus Dei throughout the season of Lent.
LENTEN DEVOTIONS are available in the narthex. Pick up a copy today.
MIDWEEK LENT SERVICES are at 7pm Weds with a supper before hosted by various individuals and groups within St. Paul. The suppers are at 5:45 and not 6pm as previously advertised. If you would like to help, talk to someone who has already signed up in the fellowship hall. Our Lenten theme this year is "Penitential Psalms." For every Wednesday in Lent, we will reflect on the Penitential Psalms. Our Lenten observance will follow the Office of Vespers for our 7pm midweek services. Please consider making this year's Lenten worship opportunities a priority in your weekly schedule.
FLOWERS: placed from the Schueler family in memory of Ron Schueler.
PETITION FOR BETTER INTERNET SERVICE: if you live near the Church, you know that internet speeds are not what they could be. Nick Hoffman has created a petition to get internet service at faster speeds for our area- it is in the narthex for everyone to sign. This could potentially benefit the entire Preble area and surrounding countryside. Please sign!

PACK AWAY HUNGER AT WYNEKEN: Sat, March 30th. We need 120 volunteers for our packing that day. Our packing event will be from 9:00—12Noon. If you belong to an organization or club, (such as National Honor Society or 4-H), that encourages community service hours, this event is the place for you! We will be providing forms to record your volunteer hours for those who need them. This event is also a wonderful opportunity for parents, (and grandparents), to volunteer with their children and to work on a project together. Once again, as in the past few years, we will be visited by some special guests, during the packing time to meet with our young volunteers and for picture opportunities. Whether you are 6 or 80 or somewhere in between, there is a job for you! To volunteer, contact Dawn Buuck by email at or by telephone at 260-724-7952, by Saturday, March 24th. For updates and additional information, please check out our Decatur Pack Away Hunger Facebook Page.
