NEWS AND NOTES September 2, 2018

Å   We welcome today Rev. Dr.Timothy Quill as our guest preacher and celebrant Dr. Quill serves the seminary in positions such as Director of International Studies and Associate Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions..  We welcome Dr. Quill and his wife Annette and the Lord’s rich blessing upon  them.

Å  Thank you to all who contributed to the success of Pastor and Lynn’s 36th Anniversary Celebration.  A big thank you to all who helped set up and take down for the dinner, we are thankful for the delicious meal that was provided.  We also thank all who so generously provided the outstanding desserts-you outdid yourselves.

Å  Next Sunday we begin our two-service Sunday worship schedule.  Worship will be held at 8am and 10;15 with Bible Class and Sunday School from 9:15 to 10am.  On the first and third Sundays of a month Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 10;15am service; on the second and fourth Sundays it will be celebrated in the 8am service.  On a fifth Sunday we will normally celebrate Holy Communion in both services.

Å  Sunday School and Adult Bible Class begin next Sunday, gathering for special study ofGod’s Word from 9;15 to 10am.  Substitute pastors will teach on a topic of their choice, often teaching on one of the lessons of the day.  We thank again those individuals who will be teaching our children in Sunday School.  May we all grow in the grace and  KNOWLEDGE OF OUR Lord Jesus Christ (2Peter 3;18).

Å  On Tuesday (August 21st) the St. Paul Voters unanimously extended a divine call to Rev. Andrew Yeager.  Rev. Yeager, who is currently pastor of Zion Lutheran Church of Garrett,  announced  his call to his congregation Last Sunday .  Pastor Yeager is now called to two congregations that are geographically separate, so he must prayerfully determine which congregation he will serve as full time called pastor.  He plans to make a decision within two or three weeks of the call.  We pray the Lord’s guidance as Rev. Yeager deliberated his call to serve here.

Å  Pastor thanks all for their prayers for his sister.  Kathy is now home and apparently on the road to recovery.  Praise God for his abundant blessings.

Å  As of September 1st Kim Ehlerding will be our new secretary.   If you have any bulletin information for the September 9th bulletin, please send it to our new email address at:

Å  As Pastor Brege is now working fulltime with Indiana District matters, in an urgent situation members are encouraged to contact an area pastor (Dahling, Brock, Voorman, Christian).

Å  Pastor Brege is planning to teach the Adult Instruction Class this Wednesday (which is now combined with the Summer Bible Class).  All are welcome.

Å  Thanks to all who made last Sunday’s 50th anniversary a successful and memorable occasion.  May our Lord now bless us in the years to come!

Å  Our Wyneken parents who attend worship here with their Wyneken children are reminded to initial their column on the special books in the narthex.  We have begun another 6 months of record keeping for attendance.  Recall that each family with their Wyneken children must attend at least 14 services at the church to retain their member tuition status.

Å  Sunday School will resume after Labor Day, (Sept. 9) from 9:15-10am.  Our congregation has been blessed with 70 plus children in our Sunday School for many years.  They are the Future of our church.  As we get ready for a new year of Sunday school we desperately need teachers for the 5-7 girls and a teacher for the nursery class as well.  Please consider making a commitment to our church as to the Lord.

Å  I would like to say thank you for all of words of encouragement, thoughts and prayers, and Pastor visits during my recent hospital stay.  Praise the Lord.  Cheryl Hoffman

Å  If you love to sing and wish to use your talent in service to the Lord, please join us as the Adult Choir will begin practices on Wednesday, September 12 at 7pm.  Sing to the Lord a new song!

Å  As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School, we recognize the graduates of our school.  This week we remember the Wyneken graduating class of 1971.  Jan ice Albersmeyer, Rebekah Bachm, ann, Douglas Bieberich,k Susan Blo9menber, Terry Bradtmueller, Duane Bryant, Carol Bulmahn, Grace Bultemeier, Tamera Bultemeier, Michelle Buuck, Randal T. Å  You are cordially invited to attend an Evangelism Conference sponsored by the Indiana District’s Council of Congregational Outreach and hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 7 and 8, 2018.  The theme of the conference is “Confessing Christ in a Contentious Culture:  Speak the Truth in Love (Ephesians 4:15).”

Å  "Prayer list" for members to use as they bring the needs of others before God's throne of grace: Cathy Terhune has miraculously shown improvement ; Marilyn Harvey; Rae Fuhrmann (long time Wyneken teacher).

Å  Matters of marriage, sexuality, and procreation are not marginal to the Christian message. Husband, wife, and children capture the heart of the Gospel in their unconditional acceptance and self-sacrificing servanthood (Ephesians 5:31-32). Indifference or abuse to family structure diminishes our life-saving witness. Celebrating and exercising these gifts will strengthen all other social institutions as well. Heavenly Bridegroom, charm us into enthusiastically submitting to Your will. Amen.
